This is a brief summery of the different types of water filtration
and purification products.
-
Faucet
mounted water filter units are relatively inexpensive. They are portable and don't take up any
counter space. Most faucet mounted units can be turned on and off via a switch.
- Counter
top water filters sit on the
countertop near the sink and connect to the kitchen faucet via
a diverted. The diverter replaces the existing aerator (the little
screen). The filter can be turned on and off via a switch. Counter
top units are also easily removed.
- In-line water filters are installed
directly in the cold water pipe and are usually disposable.
- Under the counter water filter units are mounted
under the kitchen sink. These filters usually come with a dedicated
drinking water faucet. They are completely independent of the
main kitchen faucet. Filtered water is not wasted by washing dishes.
These types of filters are most popular in private homes.
